Tonight?

I am thinking of going tonight after work around 9pm. Anyone going? Where?

Danimal8199 09-18-2007 02:28 PM

I'll be at LP or a little north!

Skyway Scott 09-18-2007 02:39 PM

Lp :)

toby wilson 09-18-2007 05:37 PM

See you guys there!! :)

Unimog Bob 09-18-2007 09:18 PM

Bro, What happened? We saved some wind for ya and you never showed! It was Epic. Tom was jumping to the moon and Scott was doing all three of his tricks. Who knows when it will blow upper 20s again.

toby wilson 09-19-2007 08:10 AM

I was at Lassing at 9:15, noone there and waited for 40 mins, then left for the SW to see if anyone was there. Got to the SW at 10:15, noone there but some sketchy Mangrove-huggers in a pickup who immediately left and some guys throwing a cast net trying to catch some greenbacks for Shark fishing off of the pier...I have been around a while now and am definitely not stupid enough to do a night ride alone. What time did you guys leave? I am completely bummed out. Will try and get an afternoon sesh in today, maybe EB if it stays NE or PAG if it turns more out of the west??? I should be at the beach by 5pm, anyone going today???

Danimal8199 09-19-2007 08:22 AM

I met woodson up at the skyway else I would have been at lassing.

I stayed at skyway until about 7:30...

Today I have to pick up my car from the shop around 5:30 but plan on heading down there. Probably the skyway... maybe lassing depending on the tide

toby if you had my light up fins, you could have played tag with the sharks:confused:

BigR 09-19-2007 09:00 AM

More like they are playing tag with you and you are playing hide and seek with them since they can see you but you can't see them

RKITEKT 09-19-2007 09:09 AM

From the Sharks perspective

I want to do a computer animation showing what it would look like from underwater at the Shark's Perspective while a Kite Boarder is cruising over the surface of their world. Woudn't that be cool? Maybe we can find some kinda underwater mico cam to place on the bottom of the board!

Ok... so my imagination is a little whacked! But thats why I get paid the big bucks... no wait... I don't get paid sheot!!!

LOL!!! I do have to say that I am interested in seeing them but don't want them on my board!!! Sounds like a cool idea, just not for me... LOL!!!

Skyway Scott 09-19-2007 10:38 AM

Hey,

It's GOT to be better than Bob's approach of dangling a glo-stick right where his dangly is!! :o

bayflite 09-19-2007 10:49 AM

my 2cents
keep that stuff up on the kites
imo it can worsen your night vision.
peace

popeye 09-19-2007 11:39 AM

I keep it on my harness bar... so people can see me (so we don't collide on the water) and so they can find me when I end up hurt somewhere in the dark. Also so I can see the quick release, and the hook when I am trying to hook or unhook. Also, so when they come in to land, they know I am another rider willing to catch their kite, not just some guy walking the beach at night.

I don't think lights on kites help much... they aren't bright enough, and they are usually hidden by the canopy anyway.

thanx for the idea....
i high intensity LED light connected to the fifth line about 10-15ft from the kite, this should be enough to light up the kite.... man this could be fun....

Woodson 09-19-2007 12:17 PM

Toby, I'm off work and ready to ride... Going to run some errands and loook at the forecast... Flags in Lakeland were blowing east, down in South Tampa, NNW...?!?!??

so, I'm seriously in need of advice on where to ride come 5 pm...

Skyway Scott 09-19-2007 12:43 PM

Today is a real hard one to predict.
I think it will slowly shift NNE by 6 or 7 though, fill in, and then go more NE by 9pm (straight off of accuweather's forecast) :)

bryanleighty 09-19-2007 12:48 PM

south skyway maybe?

Skyway Scott 09-19-2007 12:48 PM

Not if you fear sharks.

Woodson 09-19-2007 12:54 PM

Cypress?

Definitely not Cypress. That place SUCKS as soon at veers from NW to NNW and even worse on N, unless you really like gusty wind.
It will be going NNE as it cools, is my guess.

C. Moore 09-19-2007 03:28 PM

Cypress is only good on a South. Bridge takes all the chop out, still a bit gusty. But no crowds..

Sean B 09-19-2007 07:23 PM

North county was NW all day. Portable wind meter was reading solid 26knots....gusting to 30. Picked up more than that as evening came. That's my sess report.

Unimog Bob 09-19-2007 07:24 PM

Sucks, Lassing sucks, too shallow, crab traps, fishermen casting at you, benches signs and trees obstructing the launch area. You guys are crazy to ride there! Skyway and East beach are the best places to ride.

Bob

BigR 09-19-2007 08:00 PM

well dang!!!!!!

I think you just turned yourself in!!!!!

Denial is just as bad as admitting guilt....

bad move for keeping things on the low down

Wolfie 09-19-2007 08:04 PM

Picnic Island would have been the safest bet (Sharks in the Channel not withstanding). It jets out to the South West so anything from due north to South West (the best wind for the spot) will work.

Skyway Scott 09-19-2007 08:21 PM

IDK, sounds like Sean hit the cherry spot today.
That's where I would have gone (IRB or so) but I was just too tired.

Danimal8199 09-19-2007 08:51 PM

Rode at the skyway with Toby, Woodson, and others. Less wind today but still alot of fun.

Saw Haus on a bow kite, thats a rare sighting but he was still rippin!

I like LP but since I landed on my head in the muck last time I just don't like riding there at low tide! My head is fine, although some will argue that it actually never was to begin with!

Woodson 09-19-2007 08:55 PM

Dan,

How'd you get home so damn fast!!?!!

See you in a week! F-16 by the end of the month ;)
