Wind, but how much?

... from the WEST though!

The forecast will continue to change in all likelihood, what is coming off the crystal ball now?

Road trip?

Why not hit the Miami Flats? No land, calm water and GREAT shredding. There aren't that many boats currently, better act to get some space onboard while it lasts. Those that come to mind include: thekitehouse.com/miami, hatteraskiteboarding.com, miamikiteboarding.com could run south of Key Biscayne to the Flats. I understand tksmiami.com may be getting a sea taxi as well.

Here's one NWS forecast for Miami (subject to change as Mother Nature sees fit of course):

MONDAY
NORTHWEST WINDS 15 TO 20 KNOTS. SEAS 3 TO 5 FEET NEAR
SHORE AND UP TO 7 TO 9 FEET IN THE GULF STREAM. INTRACOASTAL
WATERS A MODERATE CHOP.

MONDAY NIGHT
NORTHWEST WINDS 15 TO 20 KNOTS BECOMING 20 TO 25 KNOTS AFTER MIDNIGHT. SEAS 3 TO 5 FEET NEAR SHORE AND UP TO 7 TO 9 FEET IN THE GULF STREAM. INTRACOASTAL WATERS A MODERATE CHOP. SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS.

TUESDAY
NORTHWEST WINDS 20 TO 25 KNOTS BECOMING 15 TO 20 KNOTS IN
THE AFTERNOON.
SEAS 2 TO 3 FEET NEAR SHORE AND UP TO 6 TO 8 FEET IN THE GULF STREAM. INTRACOASTAL WATERS A MODERATE CHOP. SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS.

TUESDAY NIGHT
NORTHWEST WINDS 20 TO 25 KNOTS BECOMING 25 TO
30 KNOTS AFTER MIDNIGHT. SEAS 3 TO 5 FEET NEAR SHORE AND UP TO 8 TO 10 FEET WELL OFFSHORE. INTRACOASTAL WATERS ROUGH IN EXPOSED AREAS. SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS.

WEDNESDAY
WEST WINDS 25 TO 30 KNOTS. SEAS 3 TO 5 FEET NEAR SHORE

It could be blowing 20 kts. from virtually any direction and the water might still look something like this.

I see this powerful front is to hit most of the state over the first part of the coming week. So, the guys on the Gulf will be set for this one. Riders on the east coast may have more limitations outside of the large ICW up around Cocoa, Sebastian, some of the narrow ICW stretches further south, Biscayne Bay away from shore (the Flats) and the Keys.

I sure hope there is a strong NE component to go with on the back side of this front for wave riding on the east coast.

The wind's back!

HOWEVER, WE'RE TALKING ABOUT MID 50's OVER HEAR IN BISCAYNE BAY
Suit up everybody, its gonna be a bumpy, (and cold) ride.

It hasn't come yet, this is an unrelated system. Still, today, Saturday morning the forecast has shifted to light and sideoffshore for much of SE Florida. It's 4 kts. WNW at Delray currently. Guess what is blowing through Fowry. 24 kts. North, arrrgh! Have fun out there guys!

All the Keys seem to be going off as well. Something that I have noticed that as the northern most "key" of sorts the area to the south of Key Biscayne often picks up the higher winds that come to the Keys so much of the year. Don't get too sore with all that wind down in Key West Paul!
