Whale Harbor, Islamorada, Florida Keys...new riding info

Attention all kiters: there is a good bit of info about kiting at Whale Harbor...not sure where it is right now...I'll find it and put it together with this new announcement...

Kiteboarders kiting from Whale Harbor need to stay away from the Chesapeake Beach Resort directly downwind from Whale Harbor.

Too many kites are ending up on their shoreline, trees, pool etc...

All kiters have a responsibility to keep your kite on you and not let it go; but we all know that at times it might get away. YOU NEED TO BE FAR ENOUGH FROM THE SHORELINE SO THAT IF IT HAPPENS, YOUR KITE WONT END UP ON THEIR PROPERTY.

They are great people over their and they are just trying to keep their guests safe. THAT IS OUR JOB.

We will be installing some bouys to help you see where NOT TO GO.

So please, don't ride up close to Bobby's shack, don't show off for the girls laying out, and don't practice your new HP trick upwind of them...cool? And never walk aroundthe fence to go hang out their...unless of course you are staying there (It is a great place to stay!)

Thanks for all your understanding...we will all police each other in order to protect our neighbors and our sport.

Call us at the shop for more details 305-853-KITE

THANK YOU

Makes sense to me Brad. Maybe do an oblique google earth image of the two properties and marina upkeys with some lines on it showing areas to avoid and distances to maintain. Keeping guys out of there may take a bit of effort and communication but it should be doable.

p.s. - Does this mean guys can't jump into the CBR boat basin anymore either?

yes...it does...

I had a great meeting with the management saturday...they are great people and they love kiting...When Dave (GM) saw the kiter jump the basin he said "wow, that was awesome ...now I have to ask him not to do that anymore" They have a responsibility to keep their guest safe. I applaud them for their concern and for dealing with it the right way.

Chesapeake is a great place to stay and right next to Brad's. I totally understand how important it is to stay clear. Don't ruin a great thing...Thanks to Brad for doing way more than his fair share in making sure this spot remains protected. Thanks Brad for all you are doing to promote the sport....
Respect Brudda

Dont forget the map. Google is so easy to use to create that map. Show us the spots you are talking about. Especially the spots where the hot girls are.....tell me how close I can get to throw down my new trick. Its called the dangler faceplant!

Thanks

for sure...give me a couple days...

draw a line between the properties and extend it off shore...once you are out say 300ft you can go downwind...

as for the girls...uhh I'm not allowed to answer that...
