First time kiting in Tampa
 

I'm going to be in Tampa starting Sunday and I'm hoping to get a few days in of kiting during the week.

It's my frist time kiting in Tampa and would love to meet up with some local riders to show me around some of the kiting spots and give me some tips on what to avoid, etc. I will be staying close to Tampa Convention Center and I have a car.

Just in case you're curious, I am an experienced rider. I hate to kite alone and would feel safer if I knowthat someone is looking out for me.

Check out this MAP it does a great job of listing the spots around Tampa/St. Pete. I'm actually from Miami, but I'm up here for a while, the local scene is great (despite what you might see on the boards this weekend) - the closest spot to the convention center is Cypress, flat water, shallow soft bottom, so-so launch area. Wind looks like it's going to be funky Sunday but Monday looks solid, I'll definitely be out at Cypress Monday afternoon thru sunset - the guys said there are some oyster patches/beds so wear some booties.
