Replacement Lines for my Liquid Force 12m
What's up guys? Quick question.... I need replacement lines for my 12m. The only time I took it out I snapped a line. Thing is...I bought it used, so I'm not sure how stretched the lines already are and what not. I think it would be best to just replace them all before I take the kite out during my lessons. Just to be safe. Any websites? What size should I buy? Brands? thanks guys!!

Get ss firewire its the best lines you can buy. Also you are right if one line breaks you need to replace all four. The reason is all lines stretch and if you only replace one, your kite will be way out of tune. A set of four ss lines is $150. Best has lines for like 85 but they are verry stretchy and your kite will become out of tune verry quickly. Btw what kind of LF 12 do you have.

Good call, Shawn. Don't use line sets put together by Dr. Frankenstein. It's a waste of time and will give you headaches.

I've heard good things about Q-line, but being new, you don't want to mess with that.
Firewire lines are great too. Watersports west usually has them in stock, although I don't know prices and it may just be easier/cheaper for you to ship them in from extreme or real. |
Q-line (not pro) is the bomb. I've seen Q-Line line sets that are many years old or more instead of just one season... when you break a line you just cut them 6 inches shorter and re-tie the knots. Plus they make a cool howling sound which is great for keeping spectators away from them.
I will never go back to those cheap china lines that turn into a ball of ramen noodles when the wind blows them, and cut deep when you get tangled in them. |
No doubt the regular Q-line is the best. Never tangles and I have never broken one.... but i've broken almost every set of firewire i've ever used.

I'm with Jayson on this one (Jayson winces in pain :x :P )
I use to just give my lines to Bayflite (remember) and put Qline on. Firewire breaks, other stuff is tougher. I use to use Q line for everything. Found something even stronger (Ozone lines -- 800 pounds baby!!) Flexi has some awful strong stuff too. Plus, is FW still all white? |
Well guys...I ended up going with flexifoil lines. Should have them in a couple days.
