Another Serious Lofting Clip
This guy was also very lucky. There are the lucky riders and then the other type. If you KNOW your luck is golden and always going to stay that way, ride on. Otherwise, take a closer look at this clip.
It looks like he was edging really hard and lost it or perhaps just botched launching a jump, likely overpowered he initiated a long spinning jump which carried right on to the beach and into a windsurfer. The guy got up shortly after which is saying something, REALLY lucky. He had about five seconds to activate his quick release but never did. Train to make it second nature, on a C kite hit the QR on a flat kite SHEET OUT. No safety gear, if he had hit his head it easily could have resulted in a coma or worse. A foot or so over and he could have impaled himself on the windsurfer skeg, severed his spine or just mushed his head on the board. So, use DISTANCE, practice using your QR and wear SAFETY gear. |
Yeah,
I was surprised he didn't hit his QR after landing, with big rocks about 30 feet away. He is pretty lucky his kite didn't loop him into those at full speed. What was he thinking jumping in onshore winds that close, anyway? To each his own, I guess. |
