Good stuff, has to go

Since for sale stuff seems to be the hottest topic during the current doldrums Tom Stock asked me to post up some of his prized possessions.

Telescope : Meade 8" LX90 I've used one of these and it really puts the Wow in star gazing $950.00

Rifle : AK 47 Romanian I shot one of these and it really puts the ouch in terrorist hunting $375.00

You can email Tom for pics at tomstock@tampabay.rr.com

I wish I wasn't so broke because of Bush's war, I can't wait for B H Obama to get elected and establish the true workers paradise. Then I will be able to afford all the telescopes, guns, and kites I want. It is time for a change!

as this is OT stuff..

anyone advise on what i should get for in-home security?

shotgun?
pistol?

not really a gun person.. i am 100% fine with those that hate them and those that love them.. but i would like to have one in my home.

even interested in non-lethal ammo..

i have a 196uF capacitor rated at 2300Vdc infront of me... came out of a high end difibrillator.... says "the energy stored in this cap is lethal" :)
you could just wire it to your door nob at at night.......

BigR 08-07-2008 09:36 AM

You need something to complete the circuit........ or a much higher voltage

I have a 50,000 volt 15uF capacitor sitting at home....... you don't need to complete the circuit on that one

Bryan,

Call myself, Tom or Bob.

LSUkiter 08-07-2008 08:08 PM

Shotgun.
If you really want to protect yourself, they're easier to buy than a handgun, are scary as crap to whoever gets in your house, and you're way less likely to miss. Also, if you do miss, the sound of a 12 gauge wil make them not come back. Just my opinion. Regardless, get someone who knows what they're doing to teach you how to use the gun.
Just my opinion. Then again I grew up in assbackwards louisiana

thanks Tom for the phone call..

got some great info..

also spoke to guy at work that basically reiterated what Tom suggested.
I've still got some research to do. guy at my work highly suggested going to the fairgrounds this weekend and getting a real feel for what is the most comfortable in my hands.

I'm still up in the air regarding a shotgun. I can see positive and negative.

ease of mobility is a big concern. also having something that my girlfriend is 100% comfortable wielding is most important. I work a lot of random odd hours and will feel so much safer with her home w/ something that she would pick up and use without a second thought.

and regarding kite prices.. seems expected.. unfortunately.
