TS Fay brought us a broken neck in Miami and a global kiting superstar to show us and our sport in a great light. All this within the same hour. Who wants a broken neck tomorrow? There will be opportunities I suspect from the forecast in what may become TS Nicole.

For Ft. Pierce* if there aren't squalls, if it's clear and fairly sustained and you've been out in similar winds before have fun and be careful with the right gear. Good chance there will be squalls at some point though.
* Sebastian Inlet to Jupiter Inlet 0-20 nm Wednesday...Tropical storm conditions expected. Southeast winds 25 to 30 knots becoming east 35 to 40 knots in the afternoon. Seas 7 to 10 feet with a dominant period 8 seconds. Extremely rough on the intracoastal waters. Showers and chance of thunderstorms.

For points further south from Jupiter to Miami and into the Keys*, things will be more intense from the forecast. There could be even higher gusts in squalls although that is plenty to mess riders up. What do you rig for 10 (or less in low pressure lulls) to 55 kts. possibly gusting a good deal higher? Nothing will fly properly across that range and yet that is what you may be going out into if squalls are moving over.
* Coastal waters from Jupiter Inlet to Deerfield Beach FL out 20 NM Wednesday...Tropical storm conditions expected. East southeast winds 32 to 37 knots becoming south 35 to 40 knots. Gusts up to 50 knots increasing to 55 knots. Seas 12 to 14 feet building to 14 to 17 feet. Intracoastal waters extremely rough. Periods of rain and isolated thunderstorms.

This is an example of holes that are too small and close too fast, during TS Fay.

The wind station at Pt. Everglades during TS Fay, the wind can be real uneven. It doesn't have to spike that high to mess you up either. Lots of guys have been harmed in lower gusts.
