Flying Under Canopies And Kites Competition

Neil Hutchinson has come up with an unusual competition. Combining sky diving with kiting competitions spiced up with varied team concepts. It is all to take place in Sebastian, Florida between March 11 and 13, 2011.

Neil just sent along the following information ...

"So the event is getting close and registration is up at http://kiteboardsebastian.com/special_events the entrance fee will be $30 prior to the event and $40 the day of and will include entry fees to all contests, boat transport to and from islands, swag bags, live bands, event parties and drink specials, your entrance fee will be refunded to you if you register before the event and decide to do a tandem skydive.

Here is a full breakdown of the event:

All kiteboarding will take place on a deserted island on the river where any wind direction works!

Accommodations:

At Kiteboard Sebastian camping is free, on site there are hot showers and bathrooms. For local hotels in the area go to: http://kiteboardsebastian.com/accomodations

Parties:

These will be taking place at the Zoo bar that is located directly next to Kiteboard Sebastian and almost a 10 second walk from the camp ground, yes a 10 second walk so no need to drive for campers!

On Saturday night there will be a live band and the infamous foam pit + more.
We will be joining the 6th annual skydiving event Team Dirty Sanches, Come On I Wanna Lei U Luau.

Sky diving competitors will be required to have AFF licenses. All non experienced skydivers that want to jump will have to go tandem this weekend but can return on a later date to take the AFF (advanced free fall) course to jump solo.

This is gonna be big!

The event starts tomorrow. Have no clue about the sky diving weather forecast or suitability as I don't do it! From a kiting perspective, NWS has this to say:

"Tonight...South winds 10 to 15 knots...becoming northwest 15 to 20 knots late in the evening. Seas 4 to 6 feet with a dominant period 9 seconds...becoming 6 seconds late. Choppy on the intracoastal waters.

Friday...Northwest winds 15 to 20 knots diminishing to 10 to 15 knots in the afternoon. Seas 5 to 7 feet with a dominant period 7 seconds. Choppy on the intracoastal waters.

Friday Night...Northwest winds 10 to 15 knots. Seas 4 to 6 feet with a dominant period 10 seconds. A light chop on the intracoastal waters. "
