Cruising down the Straits of Florida. http://www.fksa.org/albums/album111/key_biscayne_s.jpg To stop on Key Biscayne near Miami, FL, USA to visit Crandon Park and checkout Kite4Girls. http://www.fksa.org/albums/album111/...ophe.sized.jpg The is the Second Annual K4G event and is the creation of Christophe Ribot of http://miamikiteboarding.com/ with Johan. Interestingly enough Johan arrived a short time before last year's event. This started an intriguing tradition as you will see further along. http://www.fksa.org/albums/album111/1_G.sized.jpg Let's not forget the army of sponsors, judges, volunteers that came together to make this event a reality. Thanks! http://www.fksa.org/albums/album111/3_G.jpg Better get setup. Irma styles as Damien rides by. Helmets were required for all competitors again this year. Crandon Park requires helmets, Level III PASA or IKO certification to be able to ride at the Park. http://www.fksa.org/albums/album111/2_G.jpg Setup all around. Andrea runs her line out. I understand this is her first competition! http://www.fksa.org/albums/album111/8_G.jpg Captains meeting! Neil Hutchinson broke out of his home to come down to act as chief judge at this event. Neil has been a regular judging many events in Florida for sometime. You may recall that Neil suffered a serious leg fracture about a month ago. He is still in a wheelchair and getting across all that sand to the event site is no easy thing. Major thanks to Neil for coming down despite the obstacles and discomfort to yet again do an excellent job judging the event. http://www.fksa.org/albums/album111/12_G.sized.jpg Irma gets a launch from C.J. http://www.fksa.org/albums/album111/14_G.sized.jpg http://www.fksa.org/albums/album111/5_G.sized.jpg Spectators checkout the action. http://www.fksa.org/albums/album111/17_G.sized.jpg Brad and Melia Lange of Islamorada Invitational fame show off their Ava born close to this years event. Carrying on the tradition started by Christophe last year during Kite4Girl. http://www.fksa.org/albums/album111/23_G.sized.jpg Maria picks up to head on out. http://www.fksa.org/albums/album111/26_G.sized.jpg http://www.fksa.org/albums/album111/20_G.sized.jpg Kitesafari, one of the event sponsors offers a riding experiences abroad for kiteboarders. http://www.fksa.org/albums/album111/21_G.sized.jpg The Kiteshop, a new Key Biscayne kiteboarding shop http://www.fksa.org/albums/album111/22_G.sized.jpg http://www.fksa.org/albums/album111/25_G.sized.jpg http://www.fksa.org/albums/album111/34_G.sized.jpg Miamikiteboarding.com offered free intro lessons during the event. http://www.fksa.org/albums/album111/35_G.sized.jpg Snack time! http://www.fksa.org/albums/album111/37_G.sized.jpg Damien Leroy, rider for Cabrinha poses with a competitor. http://www.fksa.org/albums/album111/33_G.sized.jpg Paul Ruggiano gives a clinic for kiteboarders from a chiropractic perspective. Paul has been providing expert warmup tips to wind sport addicts for a long time both on the beach and through his practice at Brickell Family Chiropractic, http://brickellchiropractic.chiroweb.com/ http://www.fksa.org/albums/album111/40_G.sized.jpg http://www.fksa.org/albums/album111/38a.sized.jpg Luco hits the water with Lola. http://www.fksa.org/albums/album111/42_G.sized.jpg George of Kiteflix in action! http://www.fksa.org/albums/album111/43_G.sized.jpg The event was so popular that seating became hard to find. http://www.fksa.org/albums/album111/44_G.sized.jpg It was LIGHT at points. http://www.fksa.org/albums/album111/48_G.sized.jpg Real light wind! http://www.fksa.org/albums/album111/45_G.sized.jpg Read to go again. http://www.fksa.org/albums/album111/50_G.sized.jpg Menda waits as Irma strolls by. http://www.fksa.org/albums/album111/51_G.sized.jpg Still waiting ... http://www.fksa.org/albums/album111/54_G.sized.jpg Terri shreds. http://www.fksa.org/albums/album111/56_G.sized.jpg Laura heads about. http://www.fksa.org/albums/album111/57_G.sized.jpg Still up there. http://www.fksa.org/albums/album111/55_G.sized.jpg http://www.fksa.org/albums/album111/Crandon_wind.jpg Unfortunately, about the time the heats cranked up the wind ebbed quite a bit. http://www.fksa.org/albums/album111/59_G.sized.jpg http://www.fksa.org/albums/album111/58_G.sized.jpg http://www.fksa.org/albums/album111/99_G.sized.jpg HEY, how'd Mikey get in there, they guys were kept off the water until the women's heats were over. Ironically, the wind returned after the women's competition concluded as shown by Mikey as he throws a kite loop. It was so light at points during the comp. that being able to throw ANY trick was an accomplishment. http://www.fksa.org/albums/album111/98_G.sized.jpg As long as we are having a look at the guys, here's Damien. There are still more shots to come, stay tuned. Also, why not tell us what stuck in your memories from the event as competitors, spectators or the guys trying to milk the lighter winds. Thanks for your input, I appreciate it. Tons of posts here, some fairly interesting ones too. Still, it is a bit silly to do most of the posting as has happened to this point. How about it, particularly folks in Florida, what do you think?
