Midwest Kiteboarder planning to visit Jupiter area

I have a brother in Jupiter and was hoping to seize the opportunity to head to his place this season to get some winter kiteboarding. It's obviously too cold up here to continue to kiteboard. Are there specific months I should focus on that would give me a greater chance of getting wind?

Also what are the water temps like? I'm assuming this is the one time of the year you actually wear wetsuit? If so, what do you usually wear?

Thanks,

Pretty much now through April to perhaps some time in May should be good. Prime wind times typically have fallen in February and March with the stronger cold fronts. The weather is changing as are the "normal" trends however. It has been pretty good for a few days each week recently.

Water and air temperatures for various months and parts of Florida appear at the bottom of: http://fksa.org/showthread.php?t=903

The water temperature in Jupiter range between around 70 and 66 F between December and March. The air temperature can vary quite a lot depending on what sort of cold front is blowing through. The air temp between fronts can range between the 70 and 80's. In a powerful cold front they can drop into the 40's for hours or so. If it is a strong front and I plan to be kiting for most of the day (5 to 8 hours) I might wear a 4/3. In lesser fronts perhaps a 3/2 full suit. Right now you could get away with a shortie in milder conditions. Some guys might wear baggies and a rash guard although I suspect they don't ride for most of the day in the stronger fronts.

Have a good trip!
