Heads up, Hazardous Weather Inbound!
 

Don't always notice these threats in advance, so don't rely upon warnings come out of here very often. Weather planning and monitoring is the kiter's job anyway, right? Just like with the pilot of a plane which you can fairly easily turn into in the wrong conditions.

Anyway, kiting interests throughout area should monitor conditions online and outside. This is what they say about Miami, Ft. Lauderdale area for tomorrow:


Tonight...East winds 14 to 19 knots. Seas 5 to 7 feet. Intracoastal waters choppy in exposed areas. Showers likely and chance of thunderstorms.

Friday...South winds 19 to 24 knots with gusts to around 35 knots. Seas 5 to 7 feet. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. Showers and chance of thunderstorms.

Friday Night...Southwest winds 20 to 25 knots. Seas 5 to 7 feet. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. Showers with thunderstorms likely.

Saturday...Northwest winds 20 to 25 knots. Seas 3 to 5 feet near shore and up to 5 to 7 feet in the gulf stream. Intracoastal

I can just see guys bashing into things at Hobie Beach in gusts in these conditions. Please remember the incredible lofting down there earlier this year. If it is too uneven, don't bother, go somewhere else and stay away from squalls. If conditions look good, make sure you aren't rigged too big. It sucks how we help history repeat itself, over and over, again.
