I watched that vid about a month ago. It's part of a European ad for K-Swiss shoes. I don't get it. Seems like no biggie to me.

If Billy were doing it, no one would worry. It's his body at risk and he did it without taking out a baby stroller, so who really cares?

Isn't he just landboarding basically? I was more upset over the vid where he cussed at the 75 year old windsurfer (anyone remember that one?)
here, fishy .. fishy

landboarding without wheels. thats what makes it dangerous. Good thing they are not on the water WITH wheels or there would be a serious bust going down.

I'm always amazed at the people atract by our sport. Everyone wants to say he does an Extreme sport but is really just a whiner. Can we think of anything else to criticize, complain or just say he's bad and I'm good. When this sport first started, and the boys were getting yanked around by their kites, I'm sure all of the pole boardrs sayd " thats dangerus, they might get hurt" Girls, LI-TEN UP. If you don't want to do it...don't. If you are worried about kids doing it, don't let yours. I see dudes at e baech kiting with a skate board, barefeeted, no shirt no helmet haling ass. Now thats dangerous...but it looked really fun.

Jaime

weee woooo weeee woooo

thats cause we have all these old men in the sport. crotchety old men who are out of shape and grumpy cause they can't throw it down!

heads up, shuffleboard is dangerous too. you could slip on the sand or trip on the gutter.

I just posted from work. Now that's risky .......

6 years ago, it was dangerous, imo. Now, for the most part, it's more safe than jumping on the trampoline and definitely, bar far, less risky than jetskiing or wakeboarding (for the average rider with a few good lessons).

I use to have kitemares on a regular basis. It was just expected and accepted.
I have had one in 2 years, now and I was pissed (equipment failure).
I am glad kitemares are rare for banning reasons and public perception. I kind of enjoyed having them around though, for other reasons.

I agree, who cares what Ruben does.

I love the fact that people think this is an extreme sport. Yeah, so extreme that you can ride 8 hours straight without even getting tired!

It's easy to make it extreme (riding unhooked, riding in 25+, etc) but in light wind it's about as dangerous as golf and the only muscle you need is your sphincter to hold that mis-timed bowel movement in.

But don't cross lines in 9-10mph winds 50 yards from shore or the kite police will get you!
