There is that, then again you would do better for waves further north anyway. Why not check out Ft. Pierce or Jupiter on Tuesday if you can fit it in? Although he wind is supposed to stay up longer further south, perhaps for much of the week, even Palm Beach might not be a bad prospect.

we'll see what the forecast brings,
my crash pad is MIA so logistically............

Hope it comes through. We had some great winds at the end of May three years ago. It would be nice to have it again!

It is here and it is rideable now! Why are we being treated in the forecasts to about a week of late "season" (such as it was) wind? Checkout this video cast:

Blowing about 16 kts. SSE between Delray and Dania. A stack of thermal squalls seems to be moving seaward from the Everglades. Grab some wind time if you can before the squalls come too close bringing gusts and lightning.

volume311 07-13-2011 06:14 PM

The afternoon sea breeze has been pumpin the last two days. Out from Noon-5 in Dania both days. Clear flat water and enough to have a good time.

11.5 Kahoona and a twin tip for reference.

16 kts. in Delray, squalls are moving side shore well off the coast for now. Sun is out, riding time!

ricki 09-05-2011 12:35 PM

16 avg. gusting to 19 kts. SSE in Delray!

HOWZAWIND??? ... mighty fine!!!

Got out last night for the first time in a month. It was nice to well powered, find it cuts the wrist irritation way down not to be underpowered. Shot some interesting images too, stay tuned for that. Who else got some? More to come for the next several days, 15 to 20 kts. + from the forecast, yeeha!

We're in the normal light wind time of year but it looks kiteable in the SE currently in the low to mid teens. With luck we'll have thermals later on and the wind might build a bit. It is close to onshore so be sure to stay out of lifeguarded areas and at least 50 yards offshore. Have fun!

ricki 07-18-2012 02:52 PM

It looks like kiteable thermal winds are coming up off Delray Beach. It is in the low teens now but I have a feeling it may build. Fingers crossed and go grab some if you can.

ricki 08-19-2012 02:20 PM

It's blowing 16 to 18 kts. SSE in Delray right now! Get some if you can.

The prospects look poor from the forecast today:

"Rest Of Today: East northeast winds 7 to 12 knots. Seas around 2 feet. Dominant period 4 seconds. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Showers likely and scattered thunderstorms."
NWS forecast, http://fksa.org/showthread.php?t=6734

It picks up a knot or so over the next two days, but it still looks pretty light. There is also supposed to be some squalls moving through today that you will want to stay well out of. If it were clearer you might expect some thermals to increase the windspeed but with rain and overcast the they usually don't develop.

If you want to wind wait you might go to Delray Beach, about four hundred feet south of Casurina Road. The light wind out of the NE will blow you away from the out of bounds guarded and condo property to the north. If it is from the SE and light, go somewhere else with a safe lee shore to the north. Otherwise you'll go right into the out of bounds condo property and guarded beach. During this light wind spell, you may do better to work on your board skills at the cable park at Quiet Waters in Deerfield.

ricki 10-22-2013 01:06 PM

The wind turned on in Delray, Pompano and beyond. Currently, 14 to 17 kts. SSE in Delray way above the 5 to 10 kts. forecast.
