sarasota county beach riding

I was going to post last weekend and chad085's post reminded me to do so now.

Life guards came up and spoke to us last weekend at Siesta Key public beach. Very friendly but very firmly reminded us that they do not want us kiting in the swim areas. They went on to say this means cutting corners, using the swim area buoy as a jibe/transition/jump marker or launching inside the posts. Just because there are no swimmers in the swim area (or if there are surfers IN the swim area) it is NOT the kiter's decision to make as to whether it is OK to kite or launch in the swim area - it is not.

Also, all of SRQ's beaches have a north and south white post marking the end/beginning of the supervised beach. Kiters are to fly/launch/land outside of these posts.

Our life guards are really cool and have even pulled in a couple of us when we have been way out and swimming in from break-downs.

BIG thank you to them and to all our local riders for helping supervise our local riding spots.

OS/SRQ
