It seems like the injuries are not life threatening and that she will be eventually ok. Just like the man said “once we get in the water we become part of the food chain”

"upon arrival a 19 year old female victim was found with a potential or possible shark bite"

Kudos to the sister.

Anyone on here ever have any experiences with sharks while kitesurfing.
Do tell.

Yeah I see bonnethead sharks every now and then behind east beach.

I've also seen 2 or 3 3-4 foot sharks inside the wakezone bouys at indian rocks once and my only time in islamoradora I saw 3 nurse sharks in only a few feet of water and on a downwinder in islamoradora I saw over 10 other types of sharks that I could not identify.

I have never been scared or affraid...

not sure but isnt that the same area that the guy died of a shark attack a year or two ago? just jumped off the dock to go for a swim and the shark was just feeding on mullet in the area..Ya more likely to hit the lotto than that to happen. Hope she is going to be ok.

I've seen sharks in the ICW in Dunedin (4 footer), in Hurricane Pass (7+ footer), and out in the Gulf (6 footer). They like to hang out around Anclote and N. Honeymoon too.

I just try to keep moving and dont' fall when I see them.

On the flats in Islamorada, standing in thigh deep water, kite at 12, experienced 4-5 medium sized tarpon flying by about 10 yards away, being chased by about a 7-8 foot hammerhead. Good thing that his favorite food was on the menu that day. Later that night, some crazy guy was swimming at around 9pm and got hit three times, but managed to get to shore and to the ranger station who got him to the hospital.

I've been SUPing in the channels around Harbour Island in Tampa, which are brackish, and have jumped around 20-30 baby tarpon in my travels. I've been out at dusk and half expected to see bull sharks, which also thrive in brackish/fresh water. I know the area around the skyway is teeming with them and it isn't that far of a swim for a hungry bull.
