Sunday, be careful!

Nasty front looks like it could be here in an hour or two

http://www.baynews9.com/Doppler9000.html

But it looks narrow and could be done in a hour with maybe gusts to????

Yeah,

I just took a screenshot to post before I hopped on.
It is gonna be a nuker. I don't think it's a great day for new riders!

I am gonna have to whip out the 7m.

Skyway Scott 04-15-2007 08:21 AM

So, who is going out today? I know Roberto and I am.
Who else wants in on the calamity? I am guessing solid 30 to 35 with much higher gusts.

Anyone else got small enough kites (and brains) to join us? :D

Billy was talking about hitting Shell Island for flat water high jumps. Could be interesting.

BigR 04-15-2007 08:35 AM

Let me know where..........

The calamity just hit over here ( + I want Lori to be safe on her 7m )

Skyway Scott 04-15-2007 08:43 AM

Yeah, the rain hit here too. Flash flood sorta' stuff.

We might ride PaG upwind to Shell, or ride TI and that general area.

I am in-sometime this afternoon when it clears unless it is truly nuclear.

TI was KILLA. So was my kite (inside joke).

It was much more stable and not nearly as gusty as I thought it would be today.
Yet another! sweet Sunday.
Going upwind was a piece of cake and the waves were good, so basically most guys stayed at TI and did multiple mini-downwinders.
When we first got there, it was solid 30 mainly 35, with gusts to 45.
Kevin tried to ride and got his butt handed to him (not too bad) but he was overpowered. It was impressive just to see him fight it out for 15 minutes.
Then, by the time we rigged our small kites, it "died" down to 25 to 30 or so. The rest of the day it filled in again and was 25 to 35.

Fairly epic, and great to see all the riders out there (about 15) including (but I am sure I forgot some):
Toby, Kevin, Roberto, Randy, Seviero, Bruce, Chris Moore, Tammy, Paul, Alex, Erick, Chris Bigger, and others.

Yeah, self launching a 9m bow in 30+ by yourself @ Bahia beach is a piece of cake.

Self landing the same when the wind comes up even more means 7 or so kiteloops followed by a sea grape tree catch, Paul, you know the tree/ bush

Skyway Scott 04-15-2007 06:16 PM

Ouchie. We missed you out at TI. I left a voice mail for you early this a.m.
I still can't really self-land a kite in 30 plus, I just crash it in the water and (hope to) grab it.

Good to see everyone out today. It was almost a good day. Brian, Tammy and I, took the buggy out for a while on the beach and had some fun with that too before heading out with the board.
