PODCAST #118:

Kite Racing continues to grow but nowhere is this segment of kiteboarding flourishing like in the San Francisco Bay Area. Four years ago, John Gomes, a native California and resident of San Francisco, decided to develop a way to race kites over a course so that no judges are required - the first rider to cross the finish line is the champion. This effort has grown into the Cabrinha Race Series held over the summer every Thursday at Crissy Field, and the US Nationals Kiteboarding Championship in Kite Racing, now in its second year.

John is our special guest this week and will be joining us to talk about the growth of kite racing, the evolution of racing gear, and the upcoming US Nationals competition, sponsored by the St. Francis Yacht Club, taking place at Crissy Field from June 9 through the 15.

Got a question for John about the upcoming event, format or kite racing? Post your questions here no later than 5p PST Thursday, June 5 and we will ask them for you! The interview will then be available for download over the weekend at www.thekiteboarder.com, www.asnews.net, www.kiteforum.tv or itunes (keywords The Kiteboarder Magazine podcast).

Next week: First competition and kiteboarding in Ecuador
OFF AIR: Our host, Ryan Riccitelli is getting married -- we will be off air June 19 and July 3 as the newlyweds celebrate! Congratulations Ryan and Nikki!

Congratulations Ryan and Nikki, all the best! Marina will you have coverage in The Kiteboarder about it? Sounds like a good article to me.
