A similar accident happened yesterday in Ft. Lauderdale. People really need to reevaluate the weather conditions they go out in. Kiteboarders need to stay out of and avoid getting too near to squalls. This was fixed as a necessity in some minds eight years ago. Nothing has changed to alter this view in my opinion. This was before Quick Releases with the first four line LEI kite popularly on the market. It established that you can't always unhook along with many other accidents. Unreliable quick release concepts followed in the next few years. Today there are better mechanisms for trying to manage stronger wind gusts. As with all mechanisms and required human reactions to operate them, they are not fully reliable particularly in extremes. We need to avoid the extreme conditions, squalls, in the first place.
