It was trickier to handle down your way with the causeways, extensive seawalls and private development to walk back from downwind runs. It was a lot easier up here with linear stretches of unguarded beaches to work from. I can recall seeing guys stay upwind in 1999 in Maui on two line kites and wondering, how do they do that?! I think the greatest problems were insufficient wind and edging. You used to fly F ones too Raul. What was the most wind you ever took one of the old ATK foils in? Those kites could be severely punishing in major gusts and lulls.

One time I deliberately did a downwinder the last time I flew a XXXL Ram kite on handles. I was about to sell it. The walk back from that carrying a long directional board was 6 1/2 miles! Try that with a windsurfer.
