Default Help Save Kiting at Fogland, Rhode Island, (risk of "bad" oysters)

"The town of Tiverton, where Fogland is located, is looking at a proposal to allow oyster beds in this long established riding spot for kiters and windsurfers. If approved, this would most likely mean 30 foot trawl lines strewn across the riding area and shut down the spot. A form letter was put together from George Haye of ikitesurf.com. http://www.ikitesurf.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=15640

Help out your fellow kiters! Access affects everbody."

MORE about the proposed plan and opposition of other groups:

"Councilor Donald Bollin said the project would spoil peaceful waters and put them off limits to everyone else, and would provide no economic benefit to the town in return. Coiuncilors also said an on-shore refrigerated storage box would violate zoning in an R-60 zone."

“What is now a beautiful body of water to look at would be turned into a big black and white checkerboard,” Mr. Tarbox said. He said it would block off a large section of the pond to boaters and shellfishermen and would be a safety hazard that would endanger boaters especially at night or in the fog."
