Usually when the conditions are choppy, the winds are up allowing me to switch to a narrower board with more rocker. I have an old Cabrinha Spoiler 140 that carves through the chop which lessens the impact on my legs. I also have arthritis (I'm 59) and I was on glucosamine/condroitin and omega 3 for almost a year with virtually no relief. The only thing that helps me keeping active when there is no winds - paddleboarding, kayaking, etc. and ibuprofen.
