Default Video - Hammerhead Shark & Caves In The Central Bahamas

The northwest part of the island.

I recently went free diving in the central Bahamas looking for something interesting underwater not having been to the island before. Something interesting found me instead, a small six foot hammerhead shark. It seemed curious, just not curious enough to allow me to get particularly close. So, here is the video including free diving through some groves and caves in the reef I found offshore from Little San Salvador island in the Bahamas.

Apologies for the various shark cuts in the clip. It has been decades since I've seen a hammerhead underwater, four in fact that time but they were all dead. My most memorable sighting was when I was 16 diving the wall off Gun Cay in 105 ft. of water when a very nice 10 footer was swimming around for about an hour in 150 ft. visibility! An 1877 rendering of a hammerhead, looks like it got mushed up a bit first.
