Default Water Quality & Tropical Storm Debby

With tropical storm Debby dumping over 1 foot of rain in the Tampa Bay area there will be plenty of run off. Street flooding overwhelms the sewage system as most manhole covers are not sealed. When that happens the treatment plants cannot handle the volume. Local municipalities partially treat the sewage and dump it into the rivers and bays. I heard that the partially treated sewage was safe as it was treated to kill all the microbes...? Several years ago we had the same situation as now and one municipality dumped around 3 million gallons of partially treated sewage into a local river. Shortly thereafter there were beach closings in the area.

Beach water quality samples are peridically taken but it appears they have not done so in around 2 weeks.
