Just came across this clip shot somewhere in Europe, perhaps a lake in Switzerland? Hopefully someone fluent in German can set me straight on the location. Anyway, the guy launches a fairly large kite from appearances and well away from the water mysteriously enough. Once he got out of land generated wind shadow the size of the kite became more than apparent. Also, he had a number of opportunities to Emergency Depower his kite. Instead of passing a pier he could have well just hit it instead.
