This past weekend was one to go down in the CKA record books, forecasts were up and down and temperatures dropped almost 20 degrees during Saturday's Boarder-X.
Once the front finally rolled through on Saturday afternoon, it was followed by a blistery 15-25 + knts of wind. The CKA had not yet hosted a Boarder-X this season so with the nice shallow waters of the Gulf the directors and riders decided it was time. The wind shifted, the course was set, and the riders were off.
Multiple kite tangles from sketchy starts and last minute leaps of faith over obstacles and the finish line made the race more than entertaining for the crew of college, local, and tourist spectators.
The Boarder-X wrapped up with the following results and was followed by a short sunset/dusk expression session.

3rd Justice Bentz (UNF)
Sunday morning the initial plan was to hold a wakestyle jam with kickers and sliders at the south Skyway Reststop, this is the best location for due North winds in Saint Petersburg and thanks to an uber low tide from the Full Moon would have been ideal for such a jam. Unfortunately the wind gods didn't cooperate all the way and losses were cut as all wakestyle riders decided to pack up and head to the new cable park in Tampa, McCormick's Cable and Ski Ranch.
