Default Wind Comes ...

... and goes.

No news there, it comes down to timing.

I thought about an early session this morning but judged the wind was dying. It eventually built back up though, whoops. It looked like some squalls were moving over points south so I headed north to the inlet. I headed out around midday judging conditions being near minimums but thought I would give it a go anyway.

It was near high tide, the wind was light onshore and some good sized waves were moving through from when the wind was still up. A bad combination for getting offshore unfortunately.

Next time!

The forecast the last few days for today was all over the place. Had the same experience today. Good earlier but then it shutdown. Disappointing since earlier this week it was showing 17-22. Another strong wind coming mid week but timing is bad.

How is that Velocity compared to the Contra? I'm thinking either 17 meter Contra or 18 meter Velocity as my lightwind weapon. Does that Velocity also flag to a single front line? It also seems the second generation Velocity should be coming soon if they are doing a yearly release.

Yes, it really is all about timing. I was looking forward to checking out the strong cold front winds yesterday but just couldn't make it out when they were on. Have to say this is one of the best wind seasons I can remember so no real complaints from me. Yes, it is supposed to pickup well early in the week, we'll see if I can get some of it. Sorry the timing is bad for you.

I have no experience with the new Contra unfortunately. I would talk to the guys at ASM, they should be able to give you input based on time with the kite. Yes, the Velocity flags off a single line like a traditional C kite in some ways, only better. It performs quite well too, pointing particularly nicely, has great boosting characteristics, major depower range and a good deal more. I would ask the guys at ASM about the new release date if they know.
