I never have but recently heard someone suggest it. The downside is some substantial wind shadow from most directions likely resulting in uneven, gusty winds with lulls. The current a bit east around the inlet jetties is INTENSE at certain parts of the tide. It may build up around the island at some times as well to a lesser degree. It looks like they may have a sand bottom off the south end of the island.

It would be clutch
But there’s just far to much boat traffic around the Island on weekends, which by the way is the reason to go. It's a blast ~n~ being spring break and all There's a huge sand bar on the NNE side of the Island that would defiantly be fun on a E-ENE wind. I spoke w/a guy up in Stuart and he said that there’s some sand bars inside the St Lucie Inlet, over by sewells point that are good flat water spots (you need a boat to get to them) on an E-NE wind. I've seen some pic's looks like butter. |

Sounds like I might have to give it a try and let you guys know!
I am headed down to Bahia Honda for some wide open, uncrowded Butter flat water this weekend. I think we almost have the upwind down. I am hoping a day in perfect conditions will help =-). |
