12 windy weekends in a row
This will make 12 weekends in a row with good wind .
Most of you know this already, (but some don't). It commonly jumps from 12 knots to 20 plus knots in less than ten minutes on days like today (southerly winds) right around 1:30 pm. Don't know if it will today, but be ready to hop off the 32m if it does. It also is windier up top and out 50 yards than it seems on shore with a wind meter. So if Billy is jumping 30 feet and your meter says 14, you might want to reconsider that 17m Contra. Sorry for the nanny-talk, just want it safe out there today. It's going to be crowded with riders and spectators is my guess. It's should be epic winds and weather! Last edited by Skyway Scott; 04-14-2007 at 05:46 AM. |

Yep. Several of us are planning a little down wind ride from EB to Tierra Verde, mainly to get "out in the open". This is assuming it doesn't switch too much away from S to SW.
It's going to be crowded at TV "beach" with windsurfers and maybe jetskis, so landing kites there won't be the easiest, but still do-able if we get a guy on shore to grab them. I would like to leave a vehicle or two at TV for the ride back. You interested in doing this around 1 or 2? (Ride at EB for awhile, then take a break dropping off a truck) |

I have little to no desire to go to TV land
prefer to stay somewhere where its not as gusty, The place to go is WAY upwind to the real EB than downwind. nice little rollers form up there

I think this wind direction limits our choices. I don't know if the beach will work right now.
Oh, I guarantee you the SW sensor is reading low. It's blowing in my front yard (not nuking... but blowing). |

I am heading to the NSW in a few minutes to shoot video of anyone riding... then I'll head over to EB at around 1:00 (hopefully) to do some more video and hopefully some riding if I find a sitter.

Man, it really rocked!
Once it filled in, it was pretty sweet. Billy was going huge on his new 10.5m Flexi Ion2. Last edited by Skyway Scott; 01-02-2008 at 03:44 PM. |

I rode at Backside today. No one else was around for over an hour. Ty showed up and we ripped it up. We were the only kiters I saw at Backside today.
It was decent (at best) on the inside but epic on the other side of the channel in Backside Bay. Super flat, glassy, and clear to the bottom, with clean and solid wind. I was grooving all over the place out there. I finally put my 15m Ion at around 3:30 or so when it started to get really decent. I was so tired and sun-weary that I said the hell with it, went home and ate everything in site, then crashed. Probably missed the best wind of the session, but whatever, I rode for hours and hours today. Looked like there were a bunch of kites up at East Byatch. I counted roughly thirty, but it looks like more kites are getting up to the Monkey Flatz toward the channel, so maybe it was not as crowded today as one might expect. |
