Keep your fingers crossed then. We'll let you know how we do in trying to restore access.

We're considering trying to get restored access to A, B or G. Input for kiters that rode at Virginia Key Beach regularly in the past? Fairly certain we have lost any hope for C, D, E or F given current beach use there. Don't want to go too far south due to loss of useable northerly wind and tidal current issues drawing riders into the bridge at Bear Cut. This is a consideration with G and more so at points south of that. G is likely downwind of most of the beach users to the north however. There are powerlines to consider at B and to a lesser extent A I think. The beach is narrower at A and B as well.

Absolutely not A ! Also, the fishermen use A alot and somtimes B.
That is the worst spot and sharp rocks! Best spots would be F, G, H on the one side Or C, B on the other side My reccomendation would be to try for F, G, B in that order and if possible C and H F and C have the least amount of trees overhanging while H and B have considerably more pine trees overhanging

I don't think we have much of a shot at F but we can always try. I used to routinely launch at F, D before we were booted to C and subsequently out of there as well. What do you think about the powerlines at B?
also What do you think about for general guidelines: 1. Launch and land within the designated corridor only. (which ever corridor and spacing we negotiate, IF successful) 2. Stay well beyond swim buoys at ALL TIMES. 3. If there is insufficient wind to get out the launch corridor and stay well beyond the swim buoys, DON'T go out. Other points may be worth putting in there, i.e. this is an advance intermediate or stronger launch not suitable for new kiters due to strong currents, rock groins, nearby trees, heavy beach traffic, etc.. Also, at high tide assisted launches and landings are required along with rolling up of kites prior to leaving them on the beach at B. We might talk about how to come into the out of bounds area to the south in emergencies. And, the congested nature of this beach LIMITS the number of kiters that can effectively use this launch.

I think the powerline at B is pretty low, lower than the trees by far, still if you get your kite stuck in it.................
My reccomendation , in order ( and I think I've kited there the longest ), Would be F then C then G followed by H and lastly B F, C, G, H, B Actually F and C are equally good but I do not think we got a shot at C at all

I don't think we have a shot at C, D, E or perhaps F from past experience and current crowding. We may be able to negotiate something for a designated launch among the rest. Garry Menk took a close look at the entire area this afternoon. Apparently B looks pretty good as does H strangely enough. The later has a fairly wide beach while B is close to a calmer water riding area to the NNE as well as the waves of the fore reef and Bear Cut. Thanks for your input. We should know more about where we stand regarding possible restored access after tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed.

It is likely going to take a few weeks but it looks there may be hope for restored kiting at a designated launch somewhere on Virginia Key Beach. More work and discussion are needed but the initial meeting was a good start.
