Its really a buyers market when it comes to kites right now. If you buy a used kite have someone who is experienced check the kite, lines and control bar out before you fly it. Keeping it cheap while you are still learning and developing your riding style will help with the $$ for a new kite once you've got some experience. Try to demo different kites, this will make you more informed when it comes time to buy a new kite.. E
