KITE FOR GIRLS 2006 : J - 1 MONTH !

Miamikiteboarding's K4G new version is in 1 month from now.
We picked the date right in the middle of the windy season ( still waiting though.. ) Can't do better, but we have been quite lucky until now, i must admit (.) so the tradition will go on.

This year edition will be open to all, Men and Women, intermediates and pros.
The main idea here is to set up one big Day Event where everybody can participate regarding of competition level.

The new Contest format will be a Boardercross that gives each participant a chance to create the surprise.
In collaboration with Neil Hutchinson's X-rated . We will run 2 categories : men and women . Heats will be going on all day.
You just need to stay upwind and land a 3 feet jump. The fun is the main concept but a Prize Money of minimum $1500 will be split between the 3 winners in each categorie.

A Best Trick Contest over the finish line will add free style expression and give another chance to the most creative and technical.

We expect a huge attendance in Crandon park, Key Biscayne, that day.
Make the trip to Miami and be part of a major kitesurfers gathering this year.

In the meantime, the event will feature as usually:
Free Kite Discovery Clinics all day, SPonsors booth with bunch of equipment for direct sale on the beach, 2006 Equipment demo from most manufacturers, Free Style exhibition from the best pros in South Florida, Media and video footage for this year K4G DVD, a Raffle to win Flight Ticket, Kites and boards, + tons of gear , T-shirt, etc...and a Beach Award ceremony right after the Event to end the day.

For those who travel from all over Florida for the Week End: accomodations can be available on the key at the Silver sands beach resort , 5 min from Crandon park. Or in Downtown hotels at lower budget.

Stick around on the Sunday, there will be a SLingshot demo day with free trials of the Fuels, Octane, and Turbo Diesel Bows kite 2006 and some unsold Close-out 2005 at shameless prices .

The 2006 edition of the KITE 4 GIRLS is rapidly approaching. Remember to mark your calendars for Saturday April 8th at Crandon Park, Key Biscayne, at the North Beach entrance.

This year Event is open to everybody: Men and Women . Riders will be competing in a BOARDERCROSS RACE . We will run 2 categories MEN and WOMEN, we want everybody participating on the water that day.
A Boardercross consists in racing around couple of buoys and jumping over obstacles to reach the finish line. This format of competition allows any confident rider to enter the contest.
Neil Hutchinson from X-RATED has been running BDcross all over South Florida this year , with up to 50 contestants and will be will be directing the Kite 4 Girls Bordercross race.

A BEST TRICK CONTEST OVER THE LAST OBSTACLE will run all day during each heat, to award the most creative rider.

A $2,000 of Cash Prize Money has been set and will be spread between the 2 first winners of each categorie, among other prizes such as Boards, Kites, accessories etc...

The show will be also running on the beach: Sponsors booth, Raffle, Best Girl Contest, Kite and board manufacturers demo etc...time to try or buy gear at "special Event" prices.
and as usually FREE DISCOVERY CLINICS ran by Miamikiteboarding Instructors all day for those who want to give a try to flying a traction kite, spread the word to your friends.

IN CASE OF WESTERLY WINDS OR NO WIND THAT DAY : WE HAVE VARIOUS OPTIONS:
- EVENT POSTPONED TO THE SUNDAY OR FOLLOWING WEEK END
- EVENT SET TO HOBIE BEACH ACROSS THE STREET

Event organizer will decide which option is more apropriate regarding wind conditions.
Every contestant and sponsors will be notify at least 2 days before the Contest.

Guys,
This event just gets better every year. To all the organizers and sponsors. Kudos! This is such a great thing for Miami and our sport. Just one thing. Since it’s open to men and women, maybe it’s time to change the name. Miami Kitefest, KiteStock, whatever.
I plan to bring my daughter, niece and nephews for the experience this year. Keep up the great work!

To all Sponsors, Riders and spectators,

J -3 before our Annual Kitesurfing Contest this coming saturday , April 8th at Crandon Park , Key Biscayne

Can't be more lucky for the the wind as you can see in the following forecasts: http://www.windguru.cz/int/in dex.php? go=1&lang=eng&wj=knots&tj=c&odh=0&doh=24&fhour s=180&vs=1&sc=229This is very promising for a great event and huge attendance as well on the water than on the beach.

12 to 15 knots from the SSE are ideal to throw a perfect race and guarranty the show on the water. It's also the best direction we could expect for safety with a Side shore wind blowing away from the swimming area. However , If the weather pattern changes within the next couples of days and no wind is forecasted for Saturday , we will keep the option of postponing the Event to the following Week End.

For Sponsors that has booked a tent: plan on getting there by 9.00am to set up your booth. Remember: Banners and stickers only within or on top of your tent area

For riders entering the boardercross : plan to register by 9.00am on the beach or online right now ( refund automatic via paypal if no wind ) as we will start the heats right away to get the best of the wind that day. Remember : all level of riders are welcome , pro and intermediate, we want everybody to have fun.

For all other kitesurfers who plan on riding without entering the contest : make sure to comply with The park Regulations :

Get your IKO card level 3, and Sign up at the IKO booth that day - Independant level rider only. Particularly that day !
Wear your helmet and the wrist band that will be given to you when you sign up.
Stay clear from Contest zone during heats.
Respect the set up and Launching area and any annoucements and directives during the Event.

Make sure to check also the directions to Crandon Park North Beach: a sign will be posted at the gate entrance for direction to the Event parking lot. Get your $5( per car) ready at the toll, could not waive the Fee, sorry, it's part of the park regulations.
