Screwup Drags Two Kiters
Tom Leeman caught an incident at the beach the other day. It involved a kiter who apparently attached his flight lines incorrectly, launched and was pulled out of control through another kiters lines pulling him on to his face as well.
Moral ... P R E F L I G H T and USE Kook Proof Connectors http://www.vimeo.com/clip:156216 Good thing no one had helmets on while being pulled through all that stuff?!

Most of the draggings I have seen/heard of from the waroo are not from reversed lines but from tangled bridles.
More important than kook proof connectors and the pre-flight is to have the person launching have a good look at everything when the sail fills and give YOU the thumbs up to confirm there are no tangles or jammed pulleys and that all lines are routed correctly... the rider then turns the kite in each direction to make sure it responds accordingly (while being held down) and returns the thumbs up... upon the returned thumbs up the launcher lets go of the kite. Easy and kook free but it requires that you agree on the communication routine before the launch. |
