Default Wave Riding Event

Was just speaking with Paul Menta, an early standup rider on this coast but fairly far removed from great swells down in Key West. His idea was to put together an "on-call" wave event/session. Could do this in Delray, Jupiter, even Ft. Pierce. When some really fine glassy face swells are on from a distant storm center smoothed by local offshore wind, have folks converge for a day of wave riding, photography and general fun. If you want to have a judged comp, have at it. Like Neil did with his distance races, there would be a time window, (how about all winter in this case?), and then running status reports at 72, 48 and 24 hours out. At 24 hours it would be given the green light to GO or be rescheduled. As we know, just because you schedule something weeks in advance, the waves may not come.

What do you think?
