Default Just want to share this video what you think?

So I was looking for kitesurfing around my area and surpricesely I bump into this video taken at a beach I used to work as a lifeguard. And not kiteboarding was allow. Do you really think there was a need for a helicopter to get involve? To me this guy was no in serious trouble it look like he was in control

Not knowing all the details, you can only go from appearances. Looks like they were trying to fix a pair of spectacles with a 50 lb. sledge hammer. The wrong tool and over kill in short. A boat would have been more appropriate or even someone on a paddleboard or kayak. The guy could have well made it in on his own, many do under what seemed to be pretty mild conditions. Where was this?

Rescue services can be in a pickle perhaps not knowing the degree of need or lack there of, of a kiter with his kite on the water. I wrote an article a while back to try to help communication between the parties to avoid unnecessary rescues. More at:

Wow nice article i'll def read it couple of time and try to catch every details and put them in practice. This happened at Far Rockway Beach. (Beach 82) to be more especific. I remember last year I saw someone kiteboarding at far rockaway beach even though I think it's not legal to kiteboard there. They have the surfing beach there though. I wish they can open it for kiteboarding too
