Exclamation What is the average board size and Kite for Bay Area

Looking to get into the sport and have been doing reseach on gear and wanted to know what size board and kite I would need to get started. I am 5' 11 " and around 180 lbs. I normal spend my weekends in Fort DeSoto Park area. I have been surfing for years and also wakeskate and wakeboard, so riding will not be my issue. I just bought a Best 3 M trainer and wanted to see what people in the bay area are riding. I have been looking at the new Bow kites with a 5 line and wanted to see what the dl was! Tks for taking time to read my post. I hope everyone has a great day and keep on riding!

Here is a link that contains some of the local instructors. I didn't see Watersports West listed. http://www.fksa.org/forumdisplay.php?f=44

Your instructor will have answers to all your gear questions.
I wouldn't recommend "just trying it" without a lesson, regardless of your board sport background.

Here is a link to the Tampa/St.Pete section of the forum.

I've been skateboarding and surfing for 20 years. Don't start without a lesson... riding is the easy part, but you'll need to know how to rig, launch, and land a big kite (a lot different than a trainer) without having your ass handed to you. It's worth it trust me... and it's only one day. cu on the water.

Question Tks again! Anyone going to east beach this weekend?

Going to St. Pete to spend the weekend and was wondering if anyone was going to ride at Fort Desoto and if so East or North of North beach near the channel and on da flats/sandbars?

just a heads up but during this time of year there is no kiting allowed on big beach or north beach. only riding at east beach is allowed this time of year.
