I'm at Ft. Lauderdale but have off-shore wind
Hi folks;
I'll be staying in Ft. Lauderdale Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, but it looks like off-shore wind Thursday (SW). Is Biscayne Bay the place to go? Here are the directions that iKitesufe gave: Rickenbacker Causeway east past toll gates and first bridge. Public beach on both sides - north and south- of causeway. What directions does it support? Thanks! -Eric |

http://fksa.org/viewtopic.php?t=1509 On Wednesday as long as you can stay upwind the Ft. Lauderdale Launch should work for you. Hobie Beach is located just to the west of the Miami Seaaquarium on the south side of Rickenbacker causeway. SW wind are often associated with squalls and squalls or no, Hobie Beach is associated with gusty winds due to land effects. Several people have been injured after being lofted in gusts here into cars, parking posts, etc. If you decide to go there watchout for inbound squalls should there be any and do assisted launches and landings away from shore. Head out beyond the swim buoys and stay there until time to come in. Hobie is not that good in NW winds, the Flats on the other hand can go off. The current forecast from: http://www.srh.noaa.gov/shmrn.php?mz=amz651 WEDNESDAY SOUTH WINDS 5 TO 10 KNOTS BECOMING 10 TO 15 KNOTS IN THE AFTERNOON. SEAS 2 TO 3 FEET. INTRACOASTAL WATERS A LIGHT CHOP. SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS. WEDNESDAY NIGHT SOUTH WINDS 10 TO 15 KNOTS. SEAS 2 TO 4 FEET. INTRACOASTAL WATERS A LIGHT CHOP. SLIGHT CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS AFTER MIDNIGHT. THURSDAY SOUTHWEST WINDS 10 TO 15 KNOTS. SEAS 2 TO 4 FEET. INTRACOASTAL WATERS A LIGHT CHOP. CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND SLIGHT CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS. THURSDAY NIGHT NORTHWEST WINDS 15 TO 20 KNOTS. SEAS 3 TO 5 FEET. INTRACOASTAL WATERS A MODERATE CHOP. SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS. FRIDAY NORTH WINDS 10 TO 15 KNOTS. SEAS 3 TO 5 FEET. INTRACOASTAL WATERS A LIGHT CHOP. SLIGHT CHANCE OF LIGHT SHOWERS.

Is there anything I need to know about Dania Beach? Parking?
It looks like I just need to go South of John U. Lloyd State Park. Thanks! |

P.S Don't park in your parking space backwards. They love to give tickets for that at Dania.
