Default COLD FRONT!

Wednesday, December 15, 2004 brought the first cold front with strong winds and a sharp dip in temperatures to South Florida. Wind chill was estimated to drop to 36 F and winds around 20 to 25 kts.

What was it Elton John said about space... Oh yeah, "... it's cold as hell." Well maybe not quite that cold at sea level in SE Florida but let's have a look from that perspective ...

Rocket Man's point of view. Wonder if he rides?

Anyway, it was just after dawn and I was driving into work. I stopped by the beach to see what the ocean looked like.

Sol's heading up into the new day.

There were a few surfers out. You can see all the steam rising off the warmer water. The winds were still side offshore as the front proceeded into Florida.

Nippy!

Almost looks like a scene out of Steve Kings "The Fog."

Heading in

Even the sea gulls have socks on

Well, time to head in to the office. Wind is supposed to be on today. Wonder what will blow in?

Almost lunch time and mother nature is serving up almost 25 mph gusts! At the time, I thought this could well be a harsh day on the water. Major gusts can be a lot more work to manage and hazardous as well. Fortunately, the gusts eased a bit.

At least I can head over to the beach at lunch time to see what is going on and grab a few shots.

A view of the launch in Delray from space first.

Jay's boosting

Watch Rick boost one,*** CLICK HERE *** and hit 1 second and loop in the upper right and watch him go off.

Jay using anti-lofting technique as he walks.

Watch Rick slide across the lip of a wave *** CLICK HERE *** and hit one second and loop in the upper right.

Well, time to head back to the office. Shred on guys!
