A look back at some squally weather in the Abacos. It is a beautiful place, even under a hurricane watch. These squalls were spinning off from a tropical system in the area.
 CLICK image twice for full sized photo TS Irene spent a short time as a hurricane as well and was largely out to sea, a fish storm much of its life. In the rampaging storms of 2004 and 2005, it was plenty bad enough as a prospect to be considered while on a small island. A hand colored engraving of the same scene from 1878.  .
