Need quick wind advice for Cocoa/Titusville
My family is heading over to watch the shuttle launch tommorow and it looks like possible wind.
http://www.windalert.com/en-us/Searc...x?spotid=10671 http://www.windfinder.com/weatherfor...erie_down_park http://www.windfinder.com/forecast/merritt_island Just wondering if anybody familiar with the area would chime in. Im in Tampa and its 6+ hours of driving maybe more with last shuttle launch. Im gonna leave at 5 am probably. Think its worth the drive? I have a place to stay in titusville so I was gonna try to go to parrish park or head to manatee. My kite sizes are 13.5 and 11.5. |

I dont know though may stay here in clearwater.
Winds SSW at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 50%. Rainfall may reach one inch. Might rain but better than getting bunked across the state. Windalert doesnt show winds for tommorow but windffinder does. I dont get it, sometime the report says its gonna be awsome and we have 3 knot winds. Its hard to drive across the state when the last 3 times it said 15 knots it didnt break 8. |

I am not in the area but well to the SE. I hope the shuttle launch goes off given the current forecast, it may or may not. I don't think storms and launches mix all that well.
The NWS land forecast: Friday: Scattered showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 89. South southwest wind between 10 and 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Friday Night: Scattered showers and thunderstorms before 11pm, then isolated thunderstorms after 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 76. South wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. This is the NWS marine forecast for the area: Tonight...South winds 5 to 10 knots increasing to 15 knots. Seas 2 to 4 feet with a dominant period 8 seconds. A light chop on the intracoastal waters. Numerous showers and isolated thunderstorms in the evening...then scattered showers and thunderstorms after midnight. Friday...South winds 10 to 15 knots. Seas 2 to 4 feet with a dominant period 8 seconds. A moderate chop on the intracoastal waters. Numerous showers and scattered thunderstorms. Friday Night...South winds 10 to 15 knots. Seas 2 to 3 feet with a dominant period 8 seconds. A light chop on the intracoastal waters. Scattered showers and thunderstorms. Saturday...Southeast winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas 2 to 3 feet. A light chop on the intracoastal waters. Numerous showers and thunderstorms. Saturday Night...Southeast winds 10 to 15 knots becoming south 5 to 10 knots after midnight. Seas 2 to 3 feet. A light chop on the intracoastal waters. Chance of showers and thunderstorms in the evening...then slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after midnight. Sunday...South winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas 2 to 3 feet. A light chop on the intracoastal waters. Slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the morning...then scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Quote:
The numerous showers (and likely embedded squalls) could make kiting a bad prospect. Perhaps wait until the 5 am forecast from NWS. http://www.srh.noaa.gov/mlb/
