EXTENDED OBX OUTLOOK 6/5/15 - 6/9/15 brought to you by meteorologist Shea Gibson of iKitesurf:
Water Temps:
Ocean ~77.5°
Sound ~80° - 82°
SATURDAY: Morning 6-10kt Northerlies show a few pulses with a weak cold front pushing through. Should see NNE flow build to upper teens by late afternoon as High pressure builds down.
SUNDAY: NE/ENE flow shows a moderate to strong morning flow meet 20-25kts and slowly fade to mid teens as we get to mid/late afternoon.
MONDAY: SSW/SW flow increases to upper teens with a few low 20’s showing during peak heating of the day. Might see a several knot fade late afternoon/evening and then a nocturnal surge at dusk push back up to 20kts.
TUESDAY: Increased SW flow again as cold front draws nearer. This time, we’re looking at low to mid 20’s during peak afternoon heating and pushing through into the evening.
***SECOND OFFICIAL NOTICE***
Bring a helmet and make sure to register online (pinned post above)
The forecast continues to improve and looks like we can run back to back events in surf then freestyle/sliders.
Sunday NE winds and incoming swell (4-6') should be ideal for the surf competition at S-Turns or beach access in Waves/Salvo area *TBD
Monday has cleaned up and we should get a steady SW to run both the freestyle and kicker/sliders event from the CKA HQ. Again bring a helmet if you are going to hit any of the features, these are separate events.
Whatever we can't finish on Monday we will complete on Tuesday, but thunder storms are possible and will conflict with any riding.
Awards will be held at REAL Tuesday night, sorry no special pricing for CKA on food or drinks, but CKA officers are taking donations.
Last but not least, who is flying into Norflok tomorrow (Sat)? We have one competitor who needs a ride, he arrives at 1:15pm (call 7862162067).

***FIRST OFFICIAL NOTICE***
Things are shaping up nicely for the start of Nationals, but we will hold off from any competition on the 6th (Saturday) so all competitors can make it to the event.
Please check in at the HQ (26180 W. Vista Drive
Waves NC 27982 ) when you arrive to sign waivers and pay registration ($25).
Our focus will be on the freestyle event and getting the right conditions to run a premium competition.
If wind holds from NE on Sunday we will start with Freestyle, and if not we will switch to the Surf comp.
Monday winds look light until the end of the day, so we will wait and see what happens that day. They are expected to be out of SW, so more freestyle heats are possible.
Tuesday looks to be a stormy SW day, but strong winds will be good for freestyle and possibly the slider park.
We will conclude the event with awards at REAL and then schedule some downwinders with all of the riders.
IF YOU PLAN ON HITTING ANY OF THE FEATURES YOU NEED A HELMET! There is no exception to this, and REAL is short on rentals, so bring one with you. If you don't have one please PM CKA and let us know so we can bring a spare.
This will be our biggest and best comp yet, with the addition of some high school riders and even some riders from SKA across the pond!
