Default Parking in Fort Lauderdale

Hi guys,

Tomorrow driving from Miami Beach to Fort Lauderdale to kite back to Miami Beach, wind looks pretty good for a nice downwinder.

Not being really familiar with the parking situation in Fort Lauderdale......where is the best place for us to leave the car.....preferably for cheapo of course.

Thanks for you help!

Jur

Are you leaving from Neil's place, Tiki Beach at the north end of Bahia Mar? I always park in the City Parking lot immediately south of the ramp at Tiki Beach. Costs about $7 or $8 these days though. Guys often just park all over the ramp by Tiki. Depending on when you are coming back, you might get away with it. I grew up about a 1/4 mile north and decades of towed cars in the area put me off illegal but occasionally tolerated parking, most of the time. Must be over $200. to bail a car out these days. The nearest side streets with free parking are over 1/2 mile north and about four blocks to the west of A1A. Have a great downwinder! I recall coming down from Jupiter to Ft. Lauderdale, about 60 miles. Kent wasn't done yet though. He rode home to Miami, over 30 more miles shortly after racing down from Jupiter. The guy is an animal and a damn good kiter!

How was your downwinder? It seemed like conditions were favorable for it.

Great downwinder! It took us 3h to make it down with 2 stops. I think Jur and I made less than 20 jumps each... the waves were so much much fun to play with. I noticed on the way that lifeguard towers popped out in Haulover park compare to last winter. Not a good news, as this is the best wave riding leg IMO.
