This just in from Neil:

"Hi all.

It's the invasion this weekend in Jupiter starting on Friday through Sunday and the wind looks great for Friday and Saturday. Registration is now online and will continue on the beach on Friday morning at 8 am. We will only be accepting a total of 50 riders and this will be on a first come first serve basis. Therefore if you want to compete get on it fast.
Dasher will be there also and will be making a full DVD of the compulation of the invasion and the race, that Jeremy will be selling shortly afterwards.

Hope to see you there. Cheers Neil."

It seems like the event has become too large hence the rider cap. So register online soon!

Here's the current NWS forecast for Palm Beach, immediately south of Jupiter:

FRIDAY
NORTH WINDS AROUND 20 KNOTS BECOMING NORTHEAST IN THE
AFTERNOON. SEAS 3 TO 5 FEET NEAR SHORE AND UP TO 6 TO 8 FEET IN THE
GULF STREAM. INTRACOASTAL WATERS ROUGH IN EXPOSED AREAS. SLIGHT
CHANCE OF SHOWERS.

FRIDAY NIGHT
NORTHEAST WINDS 15 TO 20 KNOTS BECOMING 10 TO
15 KNOTS AFTER MIDNIGHT. NEAR SHORE...SEAS 3 TO 5 FEET. IN THE GULF
STREAM...SEAS 6 TO 8 FEET SUBSIDING TO 4 TO 6 FEET AFTER MIDNIGHT.
INTRACOASTAL WATERS CHOPPY IN EXPOSED AREAS. SLIGHT CHANCE OF

It is to fall off Saturday and come back Sunday but it wouldn't surprise me if it worked out better than that. Still we'll have to see what happens.

Anyway, tomorrow is looking mighty fine with 5 kts. less in the sector just north.

YOW, it is going off up there. Average 29 mph, gusting to 37 mph with lulls to 18 mph. Almost a 20 mph lull to gust range. Waves are rolling in but not that chopped up yet per the live cam. You can see the kites off in the distance to the south at:

http://www.evsjupiter.com/main.htm

The wind is from ikitesurf and so may be a little inflated but not that much I suspect.

The event wrapped up this afternoon with honking sideshore winds and nice smooth groundswells following the completion of the kiteloop competition. Even though the wind eased off yesterday, there was still surf running and a intriguing standup paddle surfing event. Friday had good if not gusty winds throughout the day. Tons of still and video shots were captured during the fifth running on this famous competition.

Huge thanks to Neil, Todd, Garry, Andrea, all the volunteers that worked hard to bring this event about, of course to Jeremy of Jupiter Kiteboarding, all the sponsors and riders.

Write ups on the way.

Jeremy with Jupiter Kiteboarding usually holds around January 25 or a weekend close to that date. I would check expedia.com for hotels in the area, around Indiantown road from the Turnpike to the beach. Rates have gone up in recent years but sometimes there a good price to be had.

The downwind race scheduling may come up a bit later on this year. Neil with Tiki Beach will announce when it will be held.
