West Winds in East Central Florida
Someone was traveling to Titusville and wondered about launches for west winds.
You should checkout Laithman's site for Brevard County, FL kiteboarding. He has a number of Sat. images of various launch areas in the Melbourne area at: http://www.321kite.com/ Regarding travel from Melbourne to Miami, here is what mapquest.com has to say about it: http://tinyurl.com/6hjdh You should look into the forecast for the next few days as the wind has been off lately, as is typical for this time of year at: http://weather.noaa.gov/cgi-bin/fmtb.../am/amz555.txt The Intracoastal is very wide up that way. You should be able to find a useable launch for west winds (NOT KELLY PARK! - A SPOT KITEBOARDERS NEED TO AVOID). Also, be sure to WATCH OUT for the squalls. They are pumping through regularly on a daily basis right now. Have fun,

Gottmore, you prefer Ft. Pierce in a west wind over the Intracoastal at Sebastian Inlet? I have ridden at Ft. Pierce and have thought about a road trip up to Sebastian often enough for strong west winds but have yet to make it. The ocean around Ft. Pierce Inlet is great for North to NE winds of course.
The Intracoastal is huge in Sebastian, with shallows around the Park pennisula.
