Neat stuff. You don't need to go as far as Germany to check this stuff out. One of our members, Dave Culp has been developing and promoting large scale traction kite use for ship propulsion in the USA and worldwide for decades through http://www.kiteship.com/

I have heard some guys say they carry a kiteboarding kite on their boats as an auxiliary power source should all else fail. Anyone else do this?
