My bets are on Chris Barrs and Billy Parker... unless Billy breaks his board on a rock jetty... he's crazy like that.

All I can say Danny, is last year, Chris was out of site within 15 minutes.

Most rigged 9s, I rigged a 13 and thought was pushing it... I think Chris rigged an 18!

Then... I competed in the Border Cross and that was a moment of rude awakening. I was on a 9M kite in 35-45mph winds (I didn't have a 7 with me). I had to bury myself in the mud and have someone hold me down until the horn blew, and I got my a$$ handed to me on the water. Those riders could have lapped me 5 times... it was a joke to even try to put myself into their league.

At least now I know where I stand. I have a lot of riding and learning to do before I could ever hope to compete against those guys and have a chance in hell. Reality sucks sometimes.

This is why an expert (ie: pro/sponsored) class and a novice (you and me) class is a good idea. Otherwise you might as well walk over and hand them your entry fee in person

There is a chance you could get in the top 10 though... I ended up somewhere just above 10th I can't remember where exactly. I thought I was 8th but later they somewhat figured out the order and I think I was 14th or something. I can't remember.

If I did it again, I'd rig the biggest kite I could hold down on the beach. It's a down wind race after all. I wouldnt even consider the bordercross again unless it was split into classes.

Overall though, it was a good time and I enjoyed watching these guys (and girls) rip in the bordercross. I was glad it worked out as well as it did.
