Default Coming to Key West

I am coming to key west at the end of october for the last few days of fantasy fest and to maybe get some riding in if it is windy.

I know that time of year is busy for lodging. Does anyone have any suggestions as to some reasonable accomodations for myself and a couple friends?

Thanks in advance!

Danny

Greg and Paul may have some suggestions but typically, KW prices go nuts and availability drops. If you are interested in going I would checkout the search engines now and see if there is any availability. We usually stay way up the Keys at Hawks Cay Resort about an hour drive. Good luck.

Danimal: Since Fantasy Fest accomodations are usually booked way in advance, there may be some availability problems. And a lot of the big hotels really engage in over the top price gouging. LaConcha Inn's top rooms usually go for 350 a night during other times of the year. Last year I heard they were going for 3 times that amount. It's ridiculous. It really depends on how long you stay. For just a couple of days, I would still check out the hotels and guesthouses. If you're planning on staying a week, I would check out VRBO.com - Vacation Rental By Owner, or a similar site. If some of the prices scare you, try up the Keys a little. All depends on how much you want to spend and how close to the mayhem you want to get.

Rooms can be very expesive over Fantasy fest, and a lot of the hotels require a minimum stay of three to four days. I would try online bookings, what you need to keep in mind for the last night of fantasy fest (Saturday night)is that it is IMPOSSIBLE to get a cab back to your hotel , and parking is also very hard to find ( don't drink and drive either). So the best bet is to find a hotel or guesthouse downtown( guesthouses are often cheaper) so you can walk or ride bikes to the parade. A lot of people stay at hotels further away from the downtown area because they are cheaper but , after parking and daily cab rides they are actually more expensive.

Look me up when you get into town and we can meet up for a beer, you are also welcome to join us to watch the parade, we go to a local bar that does not get to crowded so it does not become unbearable. lets hope we get some good wind for those days.

Greg
