Default 9th Annual Jupiter Kiteboarding Invasion - Jan. 27 to 29, 2012

"9th Annual Jupiter Kiteboarding Invasion Registration - Online Only! Registration ends at 50 riders!

When: Jan 27-29, 2012 - Friday, Saturday and Sunday

Where: Kite Beach Jupiter, Juno Beach (Shower # 33)

Jupiter Kiteboarding is proud to announce registration for the biggest and longest running competition in North America. We are expecting huge winds and waves this year! Registration can only be done online this year. We will not have registration on the beach and registration will be closed at 50 riders. Registration will be closed 72 hrs before the event."

A shot from my 2003 writeup of the first Invasion

"This year the main event will feature a freestyle competition including three divisions: amateur, pro and masters (45 yrs and over). There will also be a strapless only wave riding competition and a race, the race will be determined by how many people enter and the course will be set depending on wind strength and direction. If weather and time permits we will also have a bonus big air contest.

The conditions in Jupiter are super variable this time of year, so make sure you bring all of your gear. If wind does not permit we will have paddleboarding and surfing contests.

*To enter the Paddleboarding event, you must bring your own Paddleboard.

Sponsors: Jupiter Kiteboarding, Jupiter Paddleboarding, X-Rated Kiteboarding, Slingshot, Cabrinha, Wainman Hawaii, North, Transcend, Dakine, Kiteworld Magazine, sbc kiteboard magazine, Camrig, Globe kites, Litewave, Wind alert"

Registration has opened for the event, more at:

Default Jupiter Invasion

Does anyone know if Jeremy will push the event through Monday since wind forecast
does not look promising for 27-29?

There have been other years with poor forecast despite which they generally ran the event as scheduled. There're a lot of SUP events they can run if there is no usable wind.

I hope they had enough wind to run the event today. It looks like they might have in the afternoon. Unfortunately, I can't seem to make your link work. Is it correct? It would be great to see some photos from the event, thanks!

Thanks Drew, your second link below works. It looked like things would be pretty light on Saturday, glad conditions filled in on Sunday. Looking forward to seeing your shots.

Just came across this video from the first day of the event. I had hoped things would be rideable for the contest at least earlier in the day.

COMMENT: While there was some wind in the morning, there was only some slightly offshore wind, if any, thereafter. Paddleboard/SUP competition ensued.

Nice writeup Drew, thanks for sharing. Looks like the third day was the charm. It is good they were able to get a day of kiting heats off. How were the waves on Sunday and about how many competitors were there?
