my story.. slipped on a mexican tile step during a typical torrential downpour about 4 years ago.. had zero time to react.. didnt even get a hand down to soften the impact.. hit my back between the shoulder blades on the top stair edge.. (no alcohol involved.. hhehehe)..

result after some serious misdiagnosis - fractured t4 vertabre.

absolutely NOTHING they could do but give you pain pills and say "take care".

just have to wait it out and take the time to let it heal .. took about 1 year for me to be back to my old self tho it's never felt 100% right since .. but i did go to a physical therapist to get a specialist to go over my injury to ensure that kiting would not damage it more..

funny that he said kiting would be fine.. but that I should avoid sitting for long hours in front of a computer or similar.. guess what i do most all day at work.. ugh.

oh well.. pays the bills.. kiting does not.

Default broke mine 3x

hey man

lots of good advice from the guys

it will take at least 4 weeks b4 you can get out of bed (or twist) without the pain

8 weeks and you should be 95%

seat harness will really help until it is solidly healed

then you can get back to a waist harness again

OS

The key advise you are getting is a harness change for the next 8 to 10 months so that you don't keep aggravating the rib. The Ocean Rodeo Sessions harness is a waist harness with fully adjustable leg straps that keep it from coming up into your rib area at all. When you are all better you have the option of taking the leg straps off and using it as a cool dude waist harness. Big difference between this harness and a seat harness is that the straps pull out away from your package not into it. Good luck give yourself time to get better before you kite again.

I unintentionally kite-looped my way into a cracked or fractured rib trying to help someone recover their board at the beginning of last season, and it was a solid 6 weeks before I even thought about launching again. I just hope you don't end up with a lump like Wolfie has. It looks like he's sportin a new sack or somethin' about 6" under his armpit, and it's really hard to look at but he's always showing it off. It's gross, really Scott. No offense bro.

Is that why you have a hard time keeping your eyes off my new lump, beacuse it looks like a sack?...Oh well, at least it keeps your eyes off my crotch. That used to be REALLY uncomfortable!
