You should make a police report as soon as possible after it's gone lost/missing. The police usually have a department that deals with this sort of thing. I sm sure Craigs List and Ebay have security protocols and a police report is essential. If you have photos, serial numbers, etc... that is useful.

Good eye on spotting it and good luck getting it back.
